Wild plants photography : Bird Pepper (Capsicum frutescens) flower. The dainty flowers of the bird pepper plant attract tiny insects required to pollinate the flowers, while the ripened peppers (seeds) attract several species of birds that ingest the hot and slightly spicy peppers (seeds), new plants growing from where the seeds are dropped once they have passed through the bird. Also great for cooking with or even eating raw.

A beautiful tropical flower to look at, not so nice for the nose as it gives off something of a strong sour aroma should foliage be damaged (which can happen rubbing against host plants). The Latin foetida means 'stinking' !
